Among the stacked weights and brand new cardio machines, the large slogan “Perspire to Greatness” lines one wall of the new 27,000 square foot Crunch Fitness. General Manager Lisa Seaman makes you feel there is no level of greatness you can’t perspire to in her gym. “Just get your first foot in the door. We will take it from there.”

Stepping inside Crunch’s door brings immediate smiles from Seaman’s team. Their enthusiasm for fitness is infectious. She says of her employees, “We have had people tell us, ‘I’m back because you said ‘See you tomorrow!’’” A Fitness Director, Group Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers and Customer Service Representatives make up Crunch’s more than 25 employees. “I would put our Customer Service Team up against any restaurant, any business or any gym. That’s how fantastic they are. That’s what’s bringing people back. Anyone can have a cool gym, but not everyone can have them,” she says, pointing to the front desk with pride.

Clients are coming back daily since Crunch’s opening just days before the new year. Seaman says many locals know the history of the building in Cameron Village, having watched it through the years transform from grocery store to drug store. She says they have witnessed the renovation to the new Crunch building as they drive by or stroll through Cameron Village.

Seaman says, “Raleigh has a very large population of people that are fit and that are very intelligently fit.” Crunch’s vast offerings are perfect for intelligent fitness enthusiasts in the Capital City. Membership includes amenities like infrared sauna, aqua massage and spray tanning. Parents can get a great workout while their kids enjoy playtime in Kid’s Crunch childcare. You’ll find all the weights, weight machines and cardio equipment you’d see in other gyms, but Crunch offers much more. The Cameron Village location offers a HIIT Zone(High Intensity Interval Training) area for small HIIT classes, a ride studio for spin classes, yoga, Zumba, TRX and even bungee fitness classes. Seaman explains that across the country, Crunch locations have their own proprietary large and small group fitness classes taught in studios with a garage door that opens and closes for each class. “That’s to pay homage to our roots,” she explains.
Founded in 1989 in a New York City basement studio with a garage door, Crunch has been a leader in the fitness industry with the motto “No Judgement.” That is why Seaman felt such a connection to the company. When a management position opened in Raleigh she immediately drove from her home in Pittsburgh with hopes of landing a job at the Cameron Village Crunch. She says of her journey, “When I pulled up at 11 o’clock at night, saw that free standing brick building and all those lights, I stared at it, then slept in my car. I slept in my car because I’m very visionary and I told myself, ‘This is going to happen. This is where I’m going to work.’”

2019 is the time to perspire to greatness at Crunch. Seaman says she and her staff are thrilled to be part of the Cameron Village family and know that Crunch Fitness is a great fit for anyone in Raleigh who wants to get fit. “The minute I pulled into Cameron Village I said, ‘This is where I want to be. This is where I want to work. This is where I want to be, is Cameron Village,’” she says.
