Spring Cleaning

If you can’t open a drawer without contemplating whether an old t-shirt sparks joy, you probably have felt the Kon Mari craze. If you look through your makeup bag with disgust or get grossed out by an old can of processed soup in your pantry, you are ready to clean up everything in your life.

It’s time for spring cleaning! At Cameron Village we can help clean more than just your closet, and you can always start there.

Clean out your closet

We all have those cute dresses that we only wore to weddings last summer and they just end up in the back of our closets. Sure, they’re designer brands and we like them, but we have nowhere to wear them this year. What about those name brand shoes you wore that one time? Yeah, they were a half a size too big and just not quite right.

They could be just right for someone else! Get them out of your house and take them to Fifi’s Fine Resale Apparel. When you walk into Fifi’s you feel the excitement of finding a bargain! Find racks of slightly used designer clothes, shoes and accessories.

Manager Heather Fino says right now the store is accepting all the spring items you’re looking to get out of your closet that someone else will love, “We’re getting lots of bright colors, silk tops, and capris. Wedges and peep-toes are starting to come in. A lot of Lilly Pulitzer! A lot of Trina Turk!” When it comes to cleaning out and consigning, Fino has great advice, “If you didn’t wear it last spring and you don’t think you’ll wear it this spring, bring it in!”

Fifi’s is all about keeping your wardrobe fresh and getting great deals. The team at Fifi’s will help you get the most of the items you want to consign. You can always take that money or store credit and get some new things that do spark joy this spring!

No appointment needed to consign! For details on Fifi’s consignment process visit their website.

Clean what you keep

You did an awesome job tidying your closets. Now, you need to clean all the things you’re planning to keep. That’s where Medlin-Davis Cleaners comes in. As the area’s premier dry cleaner for more than 70 years, they’re experts in spring cleaning.

Manager Corinne Shalabi says now is the time to bring in winter items. “We’re getting sweaters and overcoats. People are getting them cleaned to get them put away. Our moth-proof bags are popular this time of year. People can not only get things clean, but store them properly until they’re ready to use them again in the fall or winter.” Pro tip: Ask for Medlin Davis’ “30% Off Thursday” deal. All sweaters are 30% in March.

It doesn’t stop with clothes, keep the cleaning going with bedding and window treatments. Shalabi says, “We typically start getting lots of sheets, comforters, mattress pads and drapes. Drapes are a big one this time of year. Everyone is taking them down and getting the dust off.”

Cleaner eating

Kudos to you if you’re still working on that new year’s resolution in March! We all want to eat better and the number one place in Raleigh for clean eating is Kale Me Crazy. This superfoods cafe in Cameron Village has the best in fast, nutritious options.

Get your gut clean this season with the Kale Me Crazy juice cleanse. Owner Jeff Hutto says, “A 3-Day cleanse from Kale Me Crazy is like a spring cleaning for your digestive system! It’s the perfect way to kick off a lifestyle change to eat cleaner.  Your body will be craving fruits and vegetables afterwards.”

Stop in to get 1 or 3 Day cleansing packages of delicious, convenient cold-pressed juices.

Clean beauty

When you walk into AILLEA, manager Lindsay Strausbaugh and her team have one goal, “We’re trying to clean everybody’s routine up!” She and her team of beauty experts decided on three things this spring to help get you started on cleaner beauty: serum, deodorant and mascara.

Strausbaugh explains, “Deodorant goes straight to your bloodstream. Your eyes are the most sensitive, so it’s important for mascara to be clean and we’ve changed from moisturizer to a serum. That goes right on your face.”

AILLEA staff believes these three things will start you on a path to beauty products free of toxic ingredients. “Come and see us. We want to sit down and take a look at your makeup bag and talk about regimine.”

Ooh! Makeup bag. Another thing to KonMari and clean out! Happy Spring Cleaning!
